As Clinical Director, McKell leads clinical care at Abbott Health & Wellness, bringing eight years of nurse practitioner experience with a background spanning plastic and reconstructive surgery, medical weight loss, and hormone replacement therapy. Before stepping into advanced practice, she worked in the emergency department and intensive care unit, where she built the clinical foundation that still shapes how she cares for patients today.
As a board-certified nurse practitioner with full prescriptive authority, McKell diagnoses, prescribes, and manages treatment plans directly — bringing full-scope, hands-on care to every patient at Abbott Health & Wellness.
Utah has been a full practice authority state since 2023 (S.B. 36) — one of the most expansive scopes of practice for nurse practitioners in the country. As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, McKell evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and prescribes on her own license. No collaborative practice agreement. No physician co-signature. That's not a workaround — it's how Utah law defines her practice.
In practice, that means the provider you meet at your first visit is the one reading your labs, building your treatment plan, and following your care from visit to visit — not a name on a chart she never sees.
McKell earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Utah Valley University before completing her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner training at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her path into advanced practice ran through some of the highest-stakes rooms in medicine — the emergency department and the intensive care unit. Those years taught her how to move fast, stay calm, and pay close attention to the details that matter, skills that still shape the way she practices today.
Since becoming a nurse practitioner, she's built experience across plastic and reconstructive surgery, medical weight loss, and hormone replacement therapy — a combination that gives her a wide, practical view of how patients' physical and hormonal health connect. Outside the clinic, McKell is a mom to three girls under the age of three, including twins, and spends as much time as she can outdoors and active with her family. Her favorite places to be are Lake Powell or on her family's cattle ranch.
As Clinical Director, McKell sets the clinical standards the Abbott team practices by — she builds the lab protocols and treatment guidelines used across the practice, including the men's health program, trains and oversees the clinical staff, and personally reviews the medical content Abbott publishes for accuracy before it goes live.
